Hello!
Happy February! 🌟
As we settle into the new year, I am making some intentional shifts in my morning routine, and I wanted to share the first one with you. For the past month, I’ve been working on incorporating early morning exercise into my day. There are, of course, many benefits of regular exercise but I have my eye on in particular- ENERGY!
A lot of people talk about time and time-management as a major factor in our ability to accomplish goals or simply do the things we want to do in life. And while that's true, I find in this phase of my life (parenthood) energy is just as, if not MORE important for me.
But when it comes to goals like working out before doing anything else in the morning it is incredibly easy to fall out of habit when something, anything, does not go smoothly. So I'm doing things differently this time. Here's what's working for me:
- I got clear about why doing this is important to me and am staying connected to that motivation
- I took the "all or nothing" approach completely off the table- There are going to be days where a morning workout does not happen, that's okay
- I set very realistic goals- a 15 minute workout is still a workout in my book
- I know exactly what work out I'm going to do each day
- I'm tuning in to how I feel on the days I do get the workout in and appreciating the boost that it gives me
Instead of holding myself to an impossible standard, I’m choosing to show up as much as I can, celebrating the wins, and letting go of the guilt when things don’t go as planned.
This shift in mindset has been a huge for me, and I wanted to pass it along to you. Life is unpredictable, especially as we juggle family, work, and everything else. But if we can focus on creating sustainable habits instead of perfect ones, we’re so much more likely to build long-term success—and peace of mind.
I've been brainstorming ideas to support this community! I'd love your feedback. What would you be most interested in? |
